Popular singer Deepal Silva, who was known as ‘Podi Lamaya’, has passed away this morning at the Ragama Hospital, Hospital sources said.
"Ada Nokara Katha, Ali Athun Maranne, Ananda Bhavan, Awata Giyata Sellam Wedado and Ayukthiyata Hisa Namanne Na" were among his popular songs.
Silva predominantly performs at musical shows and events across the country alongside popular live bands.
He was aged 48 years when he passed away at around 7:30am at the Ragama Teaching Hospital.
When inquired by NewsRadio, the Chairman of the Sri Lankan Singers’ Association (SLASA), Keerthi Pasquel said the final decision on the funeral service will be taken this evening.
Deepal Silva rose to popularity with hit singles such as Ananda Bhavan, Maduruwanta Purudu Karamu Mal Pani Bonna, Ayukthiyata Hisa Namanne Ne and Dawale Payana Chandraya.
